 Job Description

THE JOB


Accountable to the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Finance and Administration, the successful will be responsible for among others, the following:



  • Providing strategic Human Resources (HR) management and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) leadership.

  • Participating in the development of the overall University strategy.

  • Leading the development and implementation of the HR and SHE strategies ad policies

  • Overseeing overall management of the employee relations climate. the union/Management relationship.

  • Providing advice and support to senior management on all HR  and SHE matters.

  • Defining the overall organizations performance management philosophy, policies and processes.

  • Maintaining stakeholder relationships.


 THE PERSON


The right candidate must meet the following minimum requirements, among others;



  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management,/Strategic Management/ Business Administration, or any related management discipline from a recognised academic institution.

  • Should have attained a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

  • Possess at least ten (10) years post qualification experience, four (4) years of which should have been at a Management level.

  • Possess a working knowledge of implementing a SHE framework.


COMPETENCIES


The right candidate must possess the following competencies, among others:



  • Strong strategic and business orientation.

  • Proven leadership and change management skills.

  • Networking and relationship building skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of Botswana labour laws and practices.


DIRECTOR, FINANCE


THE JOB 


Accountable to the Deputy Vice Chancellor- Finance and Administration, the successful candidate will be responsible for among others, the following:



  • Providing strategic direction for the University’s accounting, financial reporting and supply chain management functions in order to ensure sustainable and efficient financial management.

  • Participating in the development of the overall University strategy.

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of appropriate financial management and accounting system and controls.

  • Overseeing the preparation and analysis of management accounts, cash flow and cash flow projections for effective decision making.

  • Ensuring adherence to internationally recognized accounting and supply standards and conventions, as well as, timely preparation of financial statements and reports.

  • Overseeing the acquisition and disposal of capital assets.

  • Overseeing and monitoring performance of the supply chain management to achieve efficiency. 


THE PERSON


The right candidate must meet the following minimum requirements, among others;



  • Possess a professionally recognised accounting qualification and membership of an internationally recognised institute of professional accountants, e.g. ACCA, CIA, CIMA, and BICA.

  • Should have attained a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

  • A Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field will be an added advantage

  • Possess at least ten (10) years’ experience in a financial environment, four (4) years of which should have been at Managerial level.

  • Registered with BICA.

  • Possess a working knowledge of implementing a supply chain framework.
